Adidas a3 Gigaride technology:

The Ground Control System allows athletes to be more supple on extreme terrain because the freely moving interior plate and midsole offer a ground-levelling effect. The systems top plate cradles the foot while the base plate and heel midsole adapt to uneven surfaces.

The Ground Control System reduces your foots pronation speed and rotation. The functional midsole, with two radiused, sliding plates adapts to the landing surface, giving greatest movement control and a minimum of potentially damaging knee stress.
